Put simply, ‘Designed in California’ is the new ‘Made in Italy’.

We collaborated closely with Domori’s R&D and marketing teams to run a series of activities including to launch a limited edition of single origin criollo bars, to test the pure hot chocolate preparation process with customers, and to develop a short gelato recipe for a single origin chocolate popsicle which we launched in Seattle at the Northwest Chocolate Festival, the leading artisan chocolate fair in the US.

In Building and Dwelling, Richard Sennett distils a lifetime’s thinking and practical experience to explore the relationship between the good built environment and the good life. He argues for, and describes in rich detail, the idea of an open city, one in which people learn to manage complexity. He shows how the design of cities can enrich or diminish the everyday experience of those who dwell in them.

In 2050, Tokyo, now the largest metropolis in the world, will be the first megacity in human history that experiences rapid decrease of population, and vast deterioration of infrastructure, as well as other local cities in Japan. Ohno, a prominent urban theorist/ architect, challenges a new theory of urbanism for these shrinking cities in post-industrial era, by connecting “”fiber units”” of local communities in the city to re-design the cities’ information, transportation, and industrial networks, as well as their landscapes.

At Italia Innovation, by involving young minds in the specific problems faced by today’s global companies, we can spark innovation. Our weekend at Georgetown was an opportunity to introduce university students to two Italian companies, then inspire them to rethink their future in a hackathon format.
